What do your prayers say about your character? (Ruth 2.4, 12)
The Lord be with you.
The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!
Background
Often, a prayer tells us something about the person offering the prayer.
After the deaths of their husbands, Naomi and Ruth travel back to the land of Naomi’s people: Israel. Upon arrival, Naomi discovers that she does have a relative still alive there—a wealthy man named Boaz, who owns many fields. The story does not tell us how they are related, but Naomi’s actions suggest that he is a distant relative. Too distant to have any obligation to help the women.
But Naomi has a plan.
